Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Kigali and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by your representative and transferred to your hotel or lodge. If you are already in Kigali, pick-up can be arranged from your hotel at an agreed time.
Depending on your arrival schedule, you may enjoy an optional Kigali city tour. Possible stops include the Kigali Genocide Memorial, local craft markets, and selected cultural attractions, subject to opening hours and your preferences.
Later, travel north towards Volcanoes National Park in the Musanze area. The journey takes you through Rwanda’s picturesque countryside, characterised by green hills, cultivated landscapes, and traditional villages.
Arrive at your lodge, check in, and relax while preparing for the following day’s gorilla trek. Your guide can brief you on the trekking arrangements, required equipment, and park guidelines.

Day 2: Mountain Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
Rise early and enjoy breakfast before transferring to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for your gorilla trekking briefing. Park staff will explain the trekking rules, safety guidelines, and conservation measures before assigning visitors to a gorilla group.
Accompanied by experienced park guides and trackers, begin your trek through forest trails and the slopes of the Virunga Mountains. The duration and difficulty of the trek depend on the location of the gorilla family, terrain, and weather conditions.
Once the gorillas are located, you will have a strictly regulated period of up to one hour to observe them, according to park rules. Watch as family members feed, groom, rest, and interact within their natural habitat.
